Photography Guidelines

Any image created for use on a public-facing website or collateral requires subjects to sign a media release.

  • Photography should feel current and real, presenting people in context of their settings and reflecting the written message.
  • Images should showcase diversity, authenticity, and express the joy of learning.
  • Look for images with natural light sources and candid poses. Nothing should look staged or flat.
  • Environmental images, such as campus building interiors, campus building exteriors and Harvard landscape shots, should be used as an enticing draw and represent the iconic Harvard experience.
  • If featuring a campus space synonymous with another school or Harvard College, it should clearly match the context (e.g., interior or Annenberg featured with Summer School content).
